[ Gwen taught him how to use the phone, and he understands it, but he debates not answering it. He feels shaky about the incident in town. He knows he should probably check to see if anyone was hurt, but...he hasn't. He's just been sitting at home on the bed. It's been awhile since he's done that, after all. He hasn't lost control of that for months. But...he hadn't done it to hurt anyone, even the glowing guy who had attacked him. He's not hurt, of course, just shaken.

[ He didn't recognise the number, but he recognises the voice immediately. Of course Newt would have known what had happened, if he'd seen it. He must have seen it. ]
Oh, Mr. Scamander. H-hello.
[ He's still not good at that whole first name thing. ]
[He pauses for a moment. Well, it's probably best to just be forward about it. No use in beating around the bush.] That was you wasn't it, Credence? [The other surely knew what he was talking about.]
What happened? Are you okay? [Newt wasn't asking what the other had possibly done, but if the other was okay. Credence had always seemed more reactive than anything, so he doesn't think the other had went into that form without reason.]
[ Credence is quiet for a minute, though he knows his silence is damning, and he knows Newt already knows that secret. ]
It was an accident. Someone...attacked me.
[ Thinking back to the events that led up to the outburst, it seems kind of strange. Why had Fenris even been so mad? What had he done? Why had he been so mad? All he has are questions without answers.
It occurs to him that he could have killed someone else. He has before. But he can't remember, because he didn't have control. He hopes that's not what happened, but also it's not like he'd started it. ]
Credence. [He pauses for a moment.] I didn't contact you to reprimand you or anything. I was merely worried. [He recalls the time that the other had settled down in the subway when spoken gently to. That the other seemingly became violent when stressed out.
He had also dealt with the Sudanese girl before, so it isn't like Credence had been the only Obscurial he had ran into.] Are you okay? Are they okay?
[ He thinks for a second. He hadn't purposefully attacked Fenris, that he's aware of. His memories of the incident are hazy, the way it always has been when he's lost control. ]
I don't know if they're okay. But they started it.
[ On some level, he knows that doesn't actually matter, and that the way the obscurus can be is too much, too violent, too deadly. But he's not exactly remorseful for anything that's happened when he's lost control, and today isn't really an exception. ]
It really doesn't matter who started it or not to me. I won't fault you for reacting the way you did, but I don't think it's quite right to just pass it off because it wasn't you who threw the first punch. [Just because someone else started it doesn't automatically make things right.]
You're within your rights to protect yourself, Credence. Seriously injuring others can have dire consequences here though. [Well, it has dire consequences anywhere, but-] People have killed each other here and they've been killed for their actions.
[ Credence is quiet again for a minute. He listens to the part about what is and isn't right, though he doesn't answer. He's not sure what he thinks is right on any given day. Newt isn't exactly the first person to try to appeal to his sense of morality; Nagini had done so at Grindelwald's speech and he hadn't listened. Tina had tried in New York, and he'd started to listen, but the aurors had come. He doesn't do well with morals at the moment, but he's a good listener. ]
Who kills them? People who hurt other people, I mean. What happens to them?
[ His conscious sense of self-preservation isn't all that high, not really, but his subconscious sense of it is the reason he's lived this long. And anyway, if he did something that put him in danger, he should probably know what the danger is. ]
[Well, he isn't actually gonna completely fault the other for being angry and destructive. He had seen what the obscurus can do to its host. He has very vivid memories of that, even. Still, he also doesn't want the other to get into trouble on top of harming others. He really doesn't want anyone harmed.]
Have you seen the cats at the abandoned police station? They're the Authority. They uphold the rules that we were given. From what I know, they give out punishments fitting to the crime. Back in December, someone was killed by another and I assume the Authority handled it. Both came back, but there's repercussions to dying here, also.
[Credence, please don't get yourself into unnecessary trouble.]
Uh. No, not quite. They're rather unique in appearance, really. [Because of course they wouldn't be normal cats. Although, it probably wouldn't be surprising here either.] I imagine that they have some abilities of some kind to deliver punishments. I can't tell you what those are though. I can't say I've tried to get into trouble.
[The niffler does make it a little stressful sometimes considering that it's prone to stealing.]
