Probably the best friend he's had. Thanks to an incident with Moon Sickness, he's afraid of hurting her. She's probably his favourite person in Deerington, and she's been there through everything that's happened since he arrived in March 2019. He associates her with the colours red and pink. She taught him about the concept of trans people and of being agender - something he's chewing on as far as identity goes. variantcover

A fellow monster. Maybe the only person Credence can't actually hurt with the obscurus transformation. He admires Reaper's control of his abilities and wants to achieve something similar. Reaper doesn't pull verbal punches and says things how they are, which Credence may not always appreciate in the moment, but he thinks he can learn a lot from him. He associates Reaper with forests and smoke. no_reload

Another fellow boy/monster. Peter has some other being inside of him (who Credence knows as Pandemonium), something dark and strange. Credence met that entity when he was pretty monstrous himself, though he hasn't forgot it. He's not sure what to make of Peter or Pandemonium, but he thinks they could maybe be friends? One of the only wizards Credence can think of that doesn't seem to be a threat to him, that doesn't want to be a threat to him. Newt has always been kind and helpful, though now he's also died at least twice and Credence worries about him. He distances himself a little bit from Newt so that Newt doesn't have to deal with the obscurus, but he considers Newt a friend. He associates Newt with animals, of course. newtralize

The Doctor seems to always have a kind word and some sort of suggestion on how to proceed. He knows some of Credence's secrets and has never seemed afraid of him. Credence isn't used to encouragement, but The Doctor gives it to him anyway. He associates The Doctor with heartbeats and tea. borntolove

Fern is the farthest in the future that Credence has heard, much farther than he can imagine. He feels some kinship with him because of their magic connection, and he tries to understand Fern (though he may not always succeed at that). He found it really touching that Fern felt he'd let their friendship down by dying. Credence would definitely try to keep Fern safe if he could. He associates Fern with plants and swords. laminae

They met when Jessie tried to save Credence from a rat. They searched for Woody together, and Credence realised what an amazing person Jessie is, despite her only being a few inches tall. He wants to look out for her, but has no idea she wants to look out for him, too. yodelling

A man who tends to yell a whole lot, but who seems to...mean well, at least as far as Credence is concerned. Wolfwood is the first person Credence knows that isn't from Earth. Credence always feels a bit out of his depth in Deerington because of when he's from, but it was only after meeting Wolfwood that he realised some people might be out of their depths because of where they're from. mercykills

Everything about Grindelwald seems complicated to Credence, from his goals at home to his goals in Deerington. He's met Grindelwald in Deerington twice now, and has never been sure of where he stands, or whether he should continue to follow the dark wizard. Then again, he did promise loyalty or death, and on some level still thinks of himself as Grindelwald's monster as much as his own. followorperish

The man that Grindelwald wants Credence to kill, but that Credence isn't sure he wants to kill. For whatever reason, Dumbledore has been kind to him, and Credence still doesn't know what's between him and Grindelwald that makes them enemies. He doesn't entirely trust Dumbledore. Regardless of things from home, however, he also doesn't see any point in killing anyone in Deerington, since people just come back. chambermusicandtenpins

Newt's brother and a newer, much more tentative connection. Even though Theseus has seen Credence as a monster once, he hasn't attacked him, and has even tried to talk him down. Credence wants to trust him because he's Newt's family, too. chosenside

An earnest boy who is apparently very strong. Izuku always seems friendly and has a smile, even in dark situations. He's one of the first people Credence met in Deerington, though he still doesn't know too much about Izuku yet. mightdoriya
