Date: 2020-03-31 07:02 am (UTC)2018 seemed impossible to even consider before I came here. That's almost 100 years different. Now it doesn't matter as much but sometimes when I think about it it still seems impossible.
I miss cities sometimes but they can be so noisy and crowded. I don't miss New York. Bad things happened there. There's nothing much to miss.

New York is very busy. There's always something going on, always a lot of people. I imagine there are even more people in your time than mine. It's probably very different but I don't know how to imagine that.
This is going to sound really silly I think but I joined a circus. We went to Europe. I was in Paris before I woke up in Deerington.

It wasn't a great place. The owner wasn't a nice person. He mistreated the workers and the creatures that he showed off to people. But the shows were really amazing.
I mostly worked with the animals. They weren't like elephants and things though.
[ He's hesitant to talk about this to someone who isn't obviously a wizard or magician or whatever. But Peter has seen some of his secrets already, and he's trusted Credence with some things, so...it seems right to share too. ]
I'm from a world with magic. The Circus Arcanus was part of the magical world. Many of the creatures we have you'd only think existed in storybooks, like a kappa. That's a water monster from Japan. But they're all real, not some trick using illusions to make them look like mythical animals.

But he's always been kind. I'm sad that he isn't here anymore.
I think in a way it's less lonely because people already know about me or can relate. I want to learn real magic but there's never time for it here. Everything is always just happening. I didn't have a lot of friends back home, or a chance to get to know people like Albus Dumbledore. I hope if we ever go home, we don't forget this place.

Yes. Many of the wizards want to kill me. I did something bad when I couldn't control it and the punishments are harsh I guess. I don't plan on letting them kill me.
People like Mr. Scamander want to help but I think that people are just afraid, so they'd rather not deal with it.
I think I always knew on some level that magic was real.
But my Ma thought it was real anyway. She thought witches were evil and all magic was bad and unnatural. For awhile I just thought that was all made up.
I met someone. A wizard. He was looking for me, though neither of us knew it was me he was looking for. I didn't know about my own power then.
Now I wouldn't want to go back to before, to thinking I was normal.

I'm glad you know the truth now. When I first woke up here, I was really scared of magic. But people like Luna showed me it can be used for good. To help people. It's scary sometimes but it's not bad, just because it's powerful.
