When the flute is played with a purposeful rhythm, it will begin to summon deer to wherever the player is standing. The longer the flute is played, the more deer they can summon. These deer will protect the player and anyone who is with them to the best of their abilities.
If Credence is able to turn into smoke, he will also be able to hide inside of the flute and will be protected from anyone who may be trying to find him.
